ERMA TECH GROUP participated in the Economist Shipping Summit on March 5, joining industry leaders to discuss how maritime clusters can act as key drivers of digital transformation, sustainable growth, and long-term resilience across the global maritime sector.
A highlight of the summit was the panel discussion titled “Maritime Cluster in Action,” where ERMA TECH GROUP’s President, Ms. Eleni Polychronopoulou, joined leading maritime executives to explore the strategic value of interconnected maritime ecosystems and the role they play in shaping the future of the industry.
The discussion focused on how well-developed maritime clusters can strengthen the industry by enabling closer collaboration between shipping companies, technology providers, ports, and research institutions. Such collaboration is increasingly recognised as essential in addressing the complex challenges facing global shipping.
Key themes addressed during the discussion included strengthening critical maritime infrastructure, enhancing supply chain efficiency and operational performance, accelerating innovation and digitalisation, and supporting sustainable growth and long-term industry competitiveness.
During her intervention, Ms. Polychronopoulou highlighted the importance of innovation and technology adoption in maintaining global competitiveness. She also emphasised the significant role that Greek engineering expertise and maritime know-how can play internationally, particularly as the industry navigates major environmental and technological transitions.
